MatheMusic Video Project
Quick Description:
The following math topics were taught during the few weeks of 'Math 3 Bootcamp' that our teacher gave us. We relearned/reviewed the topics below and used this project to present our knowledge on them:
We were teamed up in groups of four based on interest in topics and then we wrote and sang songs about the topics we were assigned. I, and a group of three other students, was assigned 'Equations, Inequalities, and Functions'. We wrote lyrics based on the song Guap by Big Sean.

- Laws of Exponents/Radicals
- Polynomial Operations
- Factoring Polynomials
- Rational Expressions and Equations
- Equations, Inequalities and Functions
- Quadratic Functions

Process:
We made lyrics and a storyboard for our topic. We then got them checked off by the teacher so we could go audio-record and film to complete the project.

Reflection:
1) Reflect on and discuss your contributions to your MatheMusic Video Project. What accomplishments would you like to celebrate? (i.e., what you produced, what you learned and how you worked together as a group.)
Contributions that I made was giving an idea for the storyboard and contributing to the discussion. I edited the lyrics for our song and helped film. Although we set up specific titles and jobs in the beginning of this project, we all helped each other complete assignments and were involved in this project. Accomplishments that I had during this project was learning how to effectively work together as a group and how to handle different expectations. My group and I all had different expectations and ideas for this video, something that we had to deal with. I found that we all got along together and we solved whatever issues that came up.
2) Did you contribute your fair share into the group? Was the work equitably distributed in your group? Explain.
I think that I contributed my share. I participated in all of the discussions that we had and edited others work in addition of doing mine. I think that some people have done more work in our group, as almost always in projects, and I feel like I was not one of them. I got my work done, but because of a time crunch at the end of the project, Brenda had to edit all of the video with no help, and Bill created almost all of the lyrics.
3) What could you have done better as an individual contributor to the group? What could your group have done better?
What I could have done better would be help others with the project more. I didn’t have much work and could have been helping instead of working on other things with my time. As a group, we could have all helped with the lyrics more because we were late getting them checked off, which made us behind on the rest of the project.
4) What lessons did you learn about group work that you would like to take to your next project group?
To help others or check that they are on top of the work. It is easy to let something slip your mind because it is our junior year and we have the most homework. Because of this, it is important to help others with their work when they are in need and want the help.
5) If you had more time to work on this project, what would you do to improve your product so that it is representative of your best work?
I would try to film more, since we only got one day of filming. Because of this, our video did not fit entirely o the storyboard and we used whatever footage that we found/could use. If we had another day to film, we could choreograph anything we want in and then come out with a better final product.
