At my school, High Tech High North County (HTHNC), we have a week of intersession annually where we take one course we are interested in to learn more about it. This year, I am taking a course on college readiness in preparation for next year. Below is a reflection from yesterday, including some college thoughts and activities we did yesterday.
Right now, I am stressed but excited for college life. I am stressed because I haven't gotten all of my acceptances/rejections from all of the schools I have applied to yet. I am still waiting on these schools and have not made a decision on where I will be attending school next year. At the same time, I really want to go to college next year and am very excited for the experiences and knowledge that I will get from my time there.
I have really considered the small living space that a dorm gives students. Although it gives people a chance to really get to know each other, I am also worried that this style of living might get cramped after a while. So in addition, I applied to honors colleges, because I also want to be an honors student and learn more, but I am thinking I might like the living arrangements better as well. Most honors students room with each other in their own specified building, meaning less people sharing bathrooms and showers. Some even have apartment or suite living spaces, which sound great. I am wondering if we can request the same roommate each year or a new one if we want. I don't think that I want a lot of roommates, definitely not a new person each year. If I find a nice person that I would be comfortable rooming with for more time, I think I would want to just stick with that person as opposed to trying to fit my personality with another person.
Yesterday, March 14th, the group of us seniors went to IKEA. We had a scavenger hunt and checklist of necessary items we have to bring to a dorm with us. We had several hours of just wandering around in the store completing the scavenger hunt and buying interesting, and preferably cheap, items that we will be working or decorating later today. Some highlights are impersonating furniture, playing hide and seek, and eating meatballs. Below, you can look at some pictures from that day.
